Get ready to paint, cut, layer, and create at Wild About Art! 🎨🐛
Inspired by the colorful collage illustrations of beloved artist and author Eric Carle, this special Enrichment Friday invites students to explore the exciting world of color, texture, shapes, and mixed-media art. Children won't simply make an art project—they'll experience the creative process of an illustrator from beginning to end!
Students will begin by discovering how artists use color and texture to bring illustrations to life. They'll experiment with color mixing, create tints and shades, and use fun tools like sponges, bubble wrap, forks, and other materials to transform ordinary paper into their own collection of colorful, textured art papers.
Then the real creativity begins! Students will choose a real animal, imaginary animal, fantasy creature, or even an animal combination, sketch their ideas, and use their handmade papers to cut, arrange, and layer shapes into a one-of-a-kind Eric Carle-inspired collage.
Designed for homeschool students ages 5-11, Wild About Art! gives young artists the freedom to experiment, make creative choices, and develop their own artistic style. The focus isn't on making everyone's artwork look the same—it's about exploring materials, using imagination, and discovering just how much fun the artistic process can be!
Highlights Include:
Discovering the colorful collage style of Eric Carle
Exploring color mixing, tints, and shades
Experimenting with texture and unique mark-making tools
Creating a shared library of handmade textured papers
