Meet the Team
FOUNDERMartha Brooke Hood
“I am truly honored that you have chosen to be part of our learning community. Flourish Academy began as a personal journey. As a former public school teacher and now a stay-at-home mom, I experienced firsthand the beauty and challenges of educating children in ways that honor their individuality, curiosity, and developmental pace. I dreamed of a learning environment that combined the flexibility and family partnership of homeschooling with the structure, expertise, and community of a traditional school. From that vision, Flourish Academy was born. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with your family and to be part of your child’s learning journey.”
TEACHERMelinda Black
"Hello! I'm Melinda Black and I am excited to be joining the team at Flourish Academy for the coming school year! I have a Bachelor's degree in elementary education and a Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. My teaching experience spans early Intervention Instruction, general education in public schools, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) classrooms to name just a few. I look forward to working with familles and colleagues to create a positive learning experience for all the children in our care.”
TEACHERHolly Calatrello
"I am an experienced elementary school teacher with 30 years of teaching experience in grades 1–4, including a strong background in reading intervention. I hold a Master’s degree from MSU and am certified to teach grades 1–8. I am passionate about inspiring students to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, making cards, and reading.”
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTJan Campbell
“Hi! My name is Jan Campbell, and I am so excited to be part of the Flourish Academy community. I have 18 years of experience teaching students from kindergarten through middle school, and I truly love helping children learn and grow. Originally from Florida, my husband, John, and I moved to Tennessee in 2019 and now proudly call Winchester home. We have four daughters, four wonderful sons-in-law, and eight amazing grandchildren, and I look forward to getting to know all of the wonderful families at Flourish Academy!”
EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANTCourtney Gibson
“Hi! My name is Courtney Gibson. My husband and I live in Tullahoma with our two children and two furbabies. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and previously taught 4th and 5th grade in the Tullahoma City Schools system. After having my children, I stepped away from the classroom to stay home with them, and I've cherished that time. For the past five years, I've been a homeschooling mom, which has given me a firsthand understanding of both the joys and challenges that come with the homeschool journey. In my free time, you can usually find me baking, working on a puzzle, shopping, or simply enjoying family time at home. I am so excited to be a part of Flourish Academy and look forward to getting to know the students and families this school year!”
